The Assistant General Secretary of the MHP complained that the opposition was poised to bring democracy. He claimed, “CHP keep saying, ‘We need to bring democracy, we need to end this one-man regime.’ This is their goal. Can they do this? Yes, they can. Will they try to do this? Yes, they will. But we should not allow them.”
The March 31st provincial elections signal the potential downfall of the ruling coalition in Turkey. The Islamic fascist ruling AKP and its junior partner, NAZI, nationalist, MHP are fearing the ultimate horror of facing democracy after losing in the three largest cities in the country.
Although the election results are decisive and undisputedly in favor of the opposition, the AKP and MHP are playing every trick in the book, and beyond, to prevent handing off the control in the metropolitan centers they consider to be their bread-and-butter marketplace. The AKP stacked election commission and AKP appointed judges are doing everything in their power to prevent handing off the control to the rightful winners of the elections.
Corruption and cronyism combined with the economic crisis that bogs down Turkey may have been behind the loss suffered by the ruling coalition. The cost of living, unemployment, unbearable working conditions on the one hand, and watching corporations with close ties to the government getting all government contracts with not much to show for on the other have brought the country to a boiling point.
Privatizations, collecting most state assets under shady funds controlled directly and personally by the president Erdogan, known for his corruption, or his family members are open scandals the government was not able to hide in the past years.
As corruption spread, and a whole slew of boondoggle projects made a once wide-spread belief in the ruling AKP supporters who sided with the government for the reason that, “yes, they too steal, but at least they are doing something” has been weakened, leading even the hard-core members to question the integrity of their own party.
Even with reported open and obvious election fraud to benefit the current government, the loss of the major three cities displays an overwhelming desire of the people to get rid of this corrupt and inapt government that was in power for the last 16 years winning elections with coercion, fraud, bribery and illegal usage of government funds for their false propaganda.
But the level of opposition shown in the March 31st election is not taken lightly by the governing parties. The junior partner, a NAZI, mafia ridden, fascist, racist and nationalist MHP party representative admitted that this demand of democracy in a fascist country will not be tolerated.
After learning the disastrous election results for his coalition, especially in Istanbul, in a speech given to the pro government propaganda outlet “A Haber” the Assistant General Secretary of the MHP complained that the opposition was poised to bring democracy. He claimed, “(The opposition) CHP does not want to rule Istanbul. All they want is to bring down this one-man regime and bring democracy to this country. They keep saying, ‘We need to bring democracy, we need to end this one-man regime.’ This is their goal. Can they do this? Yes, they can. Will they try to do this? Yes, they will. But we should not allow them.”
MHP enjoys a band of thugs organized to attack the opposition, striking workers, people struggling to preserve even the crumbs of what is left of any semblance of rights, but especially against any Kurdish organization or Kurdish people. Kurds are the most oppressed minority in Turkey, around 20-25% of the population. Their struggle to gain their ethnic and national rights, including right to education in their native language brings condemnation from the nationalists and violent and bloody attacks by the armed MHP party thugs.
